I did two cards for the hop today, using the stamp set called Flopsy Birds, which I just love. How fun are these birds?
and my Mini Misti.
This is the first card I did, and I named her "Show Off".
I first started with the stencil where I mixed up some Color Burst paint powders. I painted the stencil design on watercolour paper with my damp paint brush loaded up with paint, using a #10 round sable brush. I personally swirl my brush in water and run it through my fingers to reduce the water, then pick up my colour. This leaves me with just enough water in my brush that the paint does not run under my stencil. I first painted using the yellow, then quickly added the alizarin crimson over it ... changing the colour to these beautiful shades of oranges and pinks.
Once finished and dried I ran it through my machine with the wonky rectangle die. It was time to stamp the flamingo which I did in my Mini Misti. Leaving her in my Misti I started to paint the flamingo and as I wanted her to be the star of the show, I used the left over paints from the stencilling and dropped in some yellow, as well as adding lavender just over her eyes. I added a toned down yellow to her bill along with a grey and black ink, which I also added to her feathers.
Putting my card together, I added the stencilled panel to fun foam, attaching to my card base, then attached the large grasses to the stencilled panel. I fussy cut the flamingo, styled her and attached her using foam dots, and finishing with sequins.
This is my second card, which I have named Chirp Tweet.
Again I stencilled a background on my card base. Once I finished the stencil I attached vellum over top, gluing under where the frame would be. I then die cut the frame and propped it up on foam dots. In my Mini Misti I stamped the images I wanted to use and watercoloured them, then fussy cut the birds and the branch. I added white gel pen to the bottom of the birds then styled them and attached using foam dots, and glued in the branch. I put my card back in my Misti and stamped the sentiments on the vellum, and finished with a few sequins. I have done a video doing this card which you can find here.
I hope you have enjoyed today's cards.

ReplyDeleteKia, I am especially taken with your flamingo card. Probably because corals are my favorite color, but I love the way you made the coral pop by using the bright green grasses behind the flamingo...is there a die for the grass?

the shaker is cute in a more
subdued way. Both are great.
