Smiling

I called this card Smiling as we have sun today, and between that as painting this card, I was smiling!

I love this stamp set from Altenew. It is an oldie, but a must have, called A Beautiful Day. 

I am part of the Design Team for the Clean and Simple challenges at Splitcoaststampers, which is what I did this card for. Part of this week's challenge is to include the letters from the word April in your card. So I will share that now.

A = Altenew Stamp & Altenew Inks

P = Paint Swiping

R = Red colour (Carmine)

I = Iridescent Sequins

L = Lattice Stencil

Now, on to my card. I started by doing some paint swiping for my background. I have seen this done with acrylic paints, but I did it using Tim Holtz Distress Oxide inks and water, using a bristle brush to do my swiping. I quite like the look. I then die cut the panel with the stitched rectangle die, and attached to my card base. I then added a slight amount of embossing paste using the lattice stencil in a couple of spots, and left it to dry. 

For my flower, in my Misti I stamped the flower image using jet black ink, and the leaves using the Altenew inks in Bamboo and Parrot. Rather than stamp the flowers in layers, I opted for water colour using my Zig brushes. I used Light Carmine and Carmine Red for my flower today, painting several layers to get a good depth of colour. Once I was done the colouring and stamping I die cut the flower and leaves. I styled my flower before attaching on foam dots, then glued in the leaves. I am not sure what I will use this card for, so I did not stamp a sentiment, but I did add a few iridescent sequins to finish. I will add my sentiment later.
