This is for you, my fellow crafty friends.
It has been some time since I have made a shaker card, and when I pulled out this Love Birds stamp set I thought it would be perfect for such a card.
To do the shaker I die cut two pieces of fun foam along with a piece of cardstock using my deckled circle die. The fun foam allows for the cavity to hold the sequins, and it does not have sticky sides for the sequins to get stuck. When you run fun foam through your die cut machine, it flattens somewhat, which is why I use two pieces and glue them together using Tombow glue.
For my card I first did the background using Hero Arts Sunburst Bold Prints background stamp and distress oxide inks in Twisted Citron, Peeled Paint and Peacock Feathers. I inked up the stamp using these colours and stamped on Fabriano Hot Press Watercolour Paper, then with my paintbrush added water and did a wash across the panel. This moved the colours into the "white" space, creating a colourful background. I then painted the birds using distress inks in Scattered Straw, Wild Honey and Carved Pumpkin, and used my Zig brush in #95 Dark Gray for the beaks and claws. For the tree branch I used Gathered Twigs and Twisted Citron. Once all the painting was done I die cut the pieces out.
I put the shaker together, adding a fair amount of sequins to the cavity, and used acetate for the window. I styled the birds before attaching with foam squares, and stamped the sentiment using the monarch orange ink and coloured in the little heart with my distress marker in Dried Marigold. I then added a dab of Wink of Stella to the eyes and the heart of the sentiment.
Such a fun card to make for a bit of change. I hope you all enjoy it and thank you for visiting.
