MISTI meets Crackerbox So Suzy Stamps

Welcome to today's blog hop between My Sweet Petunia with Crackerbox & Suzy Stamps.
I have done a couple of cards to share with you for today's hop, but first I should take care of business.

Yes, we have prizes to be had. We will choose two lucky commenters from the hop to win one of two prizes: a $50.00 shopping spree at My Sweet Petunia and a $50.00 shopping spree at Crackerbox & So Suzy Stamps. You must leave your comments no later than Friday, August 24th, at 11:59 PM Central time. Winners will be announced on Tuesday, August 28th on the Crackerbox & So Suzy Stamps and on My Sweet Petunia blogs.

Now on to the cards I made for today.
First up is "The Greatest Oak". I fell in love with this sentiment when I saw it, along with the tiny acorns and thought they would be perfect together.

I first did a distress oxide background using autumn colours in Broken China, Cracked Pistachio, Ripe Persimmon and Fossilized Amber. I sprinkled with water and once dry I flecked on some Delft Blue water colour, then die cut with my antique frame die.
In my Misti I stamped the sentiment using Ranger Archival ink in Sepia, giving it a few passes to get a good impression.

I then stamped the acorns on water colour paper, heat embossing with gold embossing powder and painted with Quinacridone Gold. I styled the acorn and attached it to my panel using foam dots, and finished with a few gumdrops.

For my second card, I went Christmas, more specifically I went red and more red, and decided I would paint Mrs. Claus' boots.
On red card stock I stenciled using my snow stencil and Nuvo Glitter Embossing Paste in white and set aside to dry.

In my Mini Misti I stamped the boots and hat on Ranger Distress watercolour paper and painted using Daniel Smith Pyrrol Red, painting several layers to get that rich red. I added Gold Kuretake Zig pen to the buckle and clear Wink of Stella to the fur areas.

In my Misti I stamped my sentiment to the panel using Ranger Jet Black ink. I then attached the red panel to a white card base. I styled the boots and hat, then attached them to the card, hanging the hat off one of the boots.

I was happy with the finished result.

I do hope you have enjoyed these cards. I have included links below covering the products I used.

Now on to the rest of the hop.
Next up is Martha Lucia Gomez

  13. Love both of your cards, however the fall one is my favorite. Distress oxides make wonderful backgrounds and your use of the antique frame die reminds me that I need to use my frame dies more.

  14. Beautiful cards! I love the colour blend and how you chose to focus on those acorns and not a tree. The sentiment is so awesome nothing overshadows it but the background makes it seem even richer. Your cute little Santa boots and hat in your second card look fabulous on your red background. Thanks for sharing.
