June Roses

The Clean and Simple challenge at Splitcoaststampers is to do a card using the flower from your birth month. My birthday being in June makes the Rose my birth flower. I dare say I love them, but have never grown them. My brother-in-law used to cultivate them and had the most beautiful roses I have ever seen. I loved going to their place and playing in the Rose garden. This brings back some happy memories, Charlie has since passed, but the memories will never fade.
At watercolour classes everyone drones when our teacher says we are going to do white flowers, and I am included in that. But I thought that taupe flowers could be fun. I started by die cutting my panel using my Spellbinders Rectangle dies and stamped my image with Ink on 3 no line ink. I used only 2 colours to water colour on this card, being Burnt Umber and Burnt Sienna, water colouring on Fabriano Hot Press 140lb. paper. For the background I used Burnt Sienna.
I accidentally flicked on some brown paint, so the decision was made to add acrylic splatters, using Burnt Sienna and Crimson Red I angled the card panel along with a brown wood grain piece of card stock for some interest. To finish, in my MISTI, I stamped my sentiment from Penny Black using Ranger Archival inks in Sepia and Vermillion.
It feels like forever since I have done some water colour, so I very much enjoyed doing this card and I hope you enjoy it as well.

Thank you for visiting today.
