Butterlies and Birthdays

My wonderful friend Lesley is having a birthday.

So I think she should have a wonderful card. I readily admit I got a bit carried away as I also did this for the Clean and Simple challenge. They are going to have to call the challenge police! I look at this as if the background is designer paper, that way there are only three elements on my card!

In any event, I did have fun making this card earlier today. The challenge is about what one loves to do in the summer. I love the walks to my local park where I see a lot of butterflies, bees and birds along with the gorgeous gardens. So I decided on butterflies for Lesley's card.

There are two different stamps from different sets that I used, both were part of the kit from Gina K. Designs stamp sets. The smaller butterfly is from the Boho Flowers set and the larger is from the Aster set. I stamped using Ranger Archival Ink in Jet Black, and used a paper cut out of the butterflies to mask the areas if needed.

Using my Life Changing Brushes I applied the distress oxide colours, then blended the colours and finished blending by going over the area with the largest brush from the set to smooth it all out. I then buffed the piece with a dry cloth which further enhanced the colours. I added splatters of water along with splatters of each of the colours that I used on the card. Still not enough though, so I sprayed the panel with Perfect Pearls. That was such a good idea, it looks awesome, which is so hard to capture in a photograph.

The reason I used the Penny Black die called Elegant Stitching is that the stitching actually reminds me of a butterflies path.

I put the card together matting with the dark purple and using a lighter purple card base. I then stamped the sentiment on the dark purple cardstock and heat embossed with white embossing powder, attaching it to my card using foam squares. Stamping one of each of the butterflies using the Jet Black ink, I then brushed on Twisted Citron Distress ink to the smaller one and Squeezed Lemonade Distress Ink to the larger one.

To add more sparkle I sprayed both of the butterflies with the perfect pearl solution, then finished the inside.

Thank you for joining me. Have a wonderful day.
