It seems that is what I am doing these days, Eating, Playing and Sleeping. Needless to say like everyone, I look forward to the day that we all can change that.
I made this card to enter in a challenge over CAS Watercolour Clean and Simple Card Challenge, which is to paint a Night Sky.
To paint my sky I used my watercolour palette. Most people go for Indigo to get the deepness of a night sky, but I a) don't like how flat Indigo can be, and b) find that most night skies are lighter near cities due to the City lights and it is a prettier blue than the deepness of Indigo.
My personal preference is to let my layers of paint dry between colours. I find the paper does not buckle as badly as when I use a heat gun.
To paint I used Arches Cold Press 140lb Watercolour Paper and Schmincke Watercolours. My first layer is Cobalt Turquoise. Once dry I did a layer of Frence Ultra-marine Blue. I then added in Delft Blue, which I love for night skies. Once dry I added a second layer, with heavier paint in a few areas.
Again I waited for everything to dry completely before proceeding.
In my mini Misti I stamped and heat embossed in gold my sentiment, Eat Play Sleep, so fitting. I then did the splatters, and stamped the trees using VersaFine Clair Ink in Nocturne and let the piece dry overnight before attaching to my card base using Gina K. Design White Heavy Cardstock.
I then drew the gold border using my EK Success Gold Pen.

I love you choices of blues for the night sky, Kia! It's beautiful. I wish all I did was 'eat play sleep' - mine is more like 'work, work, housework, eat, try to sleep' LOL!
ReplyDeleteThis is beautiful, Kia! It's such a peaceful scene! I love how you've left the light area near the trees. Very realistic! Thank so much for sharing with us at CAS Watercolour!
ReplyDeleteBrilliant! I'm in love with your beautiful scene! This is my fave watercolour paper, but I haven't tried Schmincke. Very beautiful layers of blue tones:) Thanks for joining us at CAS Watercolour Challenge.
ReplyDeleteI just love how your card turned out Kia....so beautiful.
ReplyDeleteI hope you are doing well mf. I'm glad we are still under lockdown to stay safe. Time is weird for me though, as I am used to having such busy days with my little people. Don't know when I will feel safe to get back at it. I will be glad to see this nasty virus gone, don't know if that will ever happen. We are living history for sure, life will be forever changed.
Take care mf...hugs
Karen
Love your sky. Perfect for the just risen moon when there's still some light in the sky from the sun. ( Hope that makes sense.)
