I made this card for the Inspiration Challenge at Splitcoaststampers today where we visited a place called Design Pool. There is much to inspire, but when I saw this pillow I immediately thought of this stencil from A Colorful Life Designs.
I wanted the feather to be cut as I wanted the embossed gold background. So I traced the stencil using a Black Sharpie and ran it through my Scan'n Cut to get the pattern. I then cut the piece out using cardstock.
As I had both the negative and the positive for the stencil, I left my cut piece in place and using my Stay-tion and magnets I put the stencil in place and proceed to sponge on the colours of Distress Inks. The first layer is Peacock Feathers, then I added Peeled Paint along with Brushed Corduroy along the edges.
Using the second step of the stencil I brushed on the Peacock Feathers and added the Peeled Paint on top.
For my embossing I cut a piece of cardstock 4. x 5.25". On my Stay-tion using the magnets I added the stencil to my cardstock, then applied the VersaMark Embossing Ink. I then added the gold embossing powder and heat embossed.
To finish my card, I splattered the panel using the Peacock Feathers Ink and the Gold Ink. Once dry I attached the panel to my card base and placed the card inside my mini Misti, to stamp the sentiment using VersaFine Clair Ink in Warm Breeze. I then styled the feather a bit and added foam squares to the back of it before attaching it in place.
I added a few sequins to my finished card.
