When I went to my desk earlier today I had every intention of making a floral card. But it is cool outside, which I love, so I instead opted to do a leaf. This is one of my favourite leaves from Concord and 9th, so I picked this out for today.
I am using Arches 140lb Cold Press watercolour paper and Nuvo Aqua Flow Pens to watercolour.
To start my card in my MISTI I arranged my stamp to afir my watercolour paper. Using Fresh Green I coloured the stamp on one side, then added Mango Mimosa on the other side, along with Tomato Juice. Using my watercolour brush I blended the colours and brought the colours out from the leaf. To get stronger colour I added more pigment from the pens.
Once I was happy I let it dry naturally. I have said this before I am sure, but I find that my heat gun affects the intensity of the colours, which is why I let things dry naturally. It takes more time, yes, but my colours stay more vibrant.
I then proceed to heat emboss the leaf using gold embossing powder, now showing all the detail from the stamp. The gold looks so pretty over the colours.
There is a coordinating stamp that is included with this set which as the dots seen on my card. I inked up those areas using VersaFine Clair Ink in Nocturne and stamped around the leaf. I then stamped the sentiment using the same ink.
To finish up I matted the piece with using a piece of Olive cardstock, then attached the piece to my Neenah Solar White card base.
I am very happy with the outcome, and I hope you like it as well. This stamp is such fun to use at this time of year.
