Love Botanical

Tuesday means it is time for Watercolour Wednesday! ha, I should say that is what it means for me as the design team uploads their sample cards Tuesday night.

Our challenge this week is Watercolour on Embossed Paper.  I am using Fabriano Hot Press watercolour paper for my watercolour panel and a pale peach cardbase and frame along with fun foam.

For my watercolour I am using Daniel Smith colours Lemon Yellow and Transparent Pyrrol Orange along with Anthraquinoid Scarlet. I first did a thin layer of a watered down mix of the Pyrrol Orange, let it dry, then added a layer of the Lemon Yellow at full strength, adding on top a regular wash of the Pyrrol Orange and dropping in Anthraquinoid Scarlet while still wet.

I let the piece dry naturally and found I did not need any more colour. Usually I would do another layer, but all was good. So, I painted the flowers and leaves with Nuvo Midas Touch Shimmering Pen. It is so pretty IRL, so unfortunate that it does not show up in the pictures.

When all was dry I attached fun foam to the back of the embossed panel, then attached the panel to my cardbase. I die cut the frame from the same cardstock as I used for the base and using foam dots attached it to the front of the card.

To finish up I die cut two pieces of the "love" die and glued them together. I then painted them with a mixture of the Pyrrol Orange and Anthraquinoid Scarlet.

I enjoyed making this card and am very happy with the result. I hope you enjoyed hearing about the process.

  1. Just beautiful! Did you run your watercolor paper through with embossing folder before or after painting?
