I am over on the Scrap'n Stamp blog today with this card, which is also for our 30 day Random Act of Cardness Challenges. Today is day 28, which is my challenge for "embossed".
I used an embossed background and I also heat embossed with gold embossing powder.
For my background panel I am using Strathmore Bristol Smooth, which handles watercolour very well. I did not want the bulk of Arches watercolour paper, and the Strathmore works perfectly for what I wanted. I did a wash using Sap Green watercolour and set it aside to dry.
Using Arches Cold Press 140lb cold press watercolour paper I stamped the flowers and heat embossed with the gold embossing powder. I really like to use Brutus Monroe's gold embossing powder as it does fine detail beautifully. I also stamped 3 of the leaves and heat embossed with the gold embossing powder.
To watercolour the flowers I used my Nuvo Aqua Pens in the Red and Pink Lemonade, mixing between the colours to create dark and light. To watercolour my leaves I used the Kuretake Gansai Tambi Pearl Color Set, using the green shade.
Once all was dry I die cut the pieces with the coordinating die sets, then styled all of the pieces to give them dimension.
I then attached the watercolour panel to my Gina K Design Ivory cardbase. I added the flowers using foam squares, doing the same with the leaves.
I then die cut the Merry Christmas die sentiment from Arches watercolour paper and painted with the sap green watercolour, then die cut the gold sentiment from gold glitter cardstock, gluing the two together. The watercolour paper gives the sentiment a lot of strength.
To finish my card I added Nuvo Crystal Drops in Morning Mist.
I have not done a card this detailed in quite awhile. It is always fun to change it up a bit.
