It is that time again for Watercolour Wednesday at Splitcoaststampers. Our challenge this week is to Paint a Heart in Watercolour.
I made my card using Arches 140lb Cold Press watercolour paper in a tent fold.
To do my heart I traced a die heart that I have for both hears.
I did the watercolour on both of the hearts using Daniel Smith watercolours, working wet on wet and allowing the colours to bleed and run, then set it aside to dry for about an hour.
I then did a second layer of of the colours, again doing wet on wet and again allowing everything to bleed and run, by turning the card and tapping it on my desk. I again set it aside to dry.
When all was dry using a #2 brush I painted around the smaller heart using Daniel Smith Phthalo Blue Green Shade. I then did splatters using the same colour.
Once all was good and dry I erased any pencil lines that I could see.
In my mini Misti I stamped the sentiment using VersaFine Clair Ink in Paradise. I heat set the sentiment, then applied Nuvo Shimmering Pen in Midas Touch to the small heart along with splatters to the card front.
I quite like how it turned out, and I am impressed with myself that I didn't have to throw any "tries" out. This is a great idea for beginner watercolourists.
I hope you have enjoyed this card, and wish to thank you for joining me today.
