This card took on a life all its own, but in the end I do like it.
This is my sample card for the Inspiration Challenge over at Splitcoaststampers. This week I am hosting and I have picked Bath House Soapery & Caldarium for our Inspiration Site. My inspiration came from this soap called bossbabe.
I think I would like this soap for real just because I find it very pretty.
Using Neenah cardstock I dry embossed my card piece using an old Sizzix Embossing folder of Snowflakes. I embossed using my Gemini Jr. along with my magnetic shim, which gives my old embossing folder some life close to 3D.
I then applied a heavy layer of Barn Door Distress Ink to the piece. Using my palette I added a thin layer of Stickles Glitter Gel in Moon Dust. then quickly sprinkled on the WOW Midas Touch Embossing Glitter and set aside to dry.
I then moved on to the large Snowflake die from Penny Black. I die cut one from Arches 140lb cold press watercolour paper and one from Neenah 110lb cardstock.
On the watercolour piece there are layers of watercolours, including Silver along with another Iridescent Ruby watercolour and Pyrrol Scarlet watercolour. While still set I sprinkled the snowflake with WOW White Twinkle Embossing Glitter.
In the picture above you can see the impression from the embossing folder, especially on the right side of the piece. It is more noticeable in real life.
Initially I wanted to use my Merry Christmas die from Penny Black, but it would cover my Snowflake and all the work I did on it, so I opted for a smaller die which is from a set by Paper Rose. I die cut the Joy in white glitter cardstock and 2 of the words in Neenah cardstock, then glued them together using Nuvo Adhesive.
To finish up the card I attached the red panel to my Neenah card base using foam tape. With Nuvo adhesive I glued the watercolour Snowflake offset to the white Snowflake , then using a large foam square attached the Snowflake to the card front. Lastly I attached the Joy sentiment, again using the Nuvo adhesive.
This photo shows the embossing on the red panel. I need to get a new one as I think it would be even more pronounced with a 3D folder.
I hope you have enjoyed my card today, and thank you for visiting my blog.
