This card I have done for the Inspiration Challenge at Splitcoaststampers. My Inspiration piece is this dress from the site we visited, called Retro Stage.
To start my card I did some smooshing using Distress Ink in Black Soot on Bristol card.
I used a stencil from A Colorful Life Design called Flowing Drops and picked an area of the stencil that would flow down the card like in the picture, and taped off the rest of the stencil before applying VersaMark embossing ink to the remaining open area of the stencil, then added the WOW Embossing Powder Midas Touch.
After heat embossing I added the red Stickles to the centre of the drops to mimic the red in the dress. I was pleasantly surprised that the stickles still worked as it has been well over 5 years since I last used them, and that I had red was a bonus.
I set the piece aside to dry and in the mean time I die cut the sentiment using red glitter card, and the shadow from vellum. I glued the sentiment to the shadow using Nuvo adhesive, then applied foam tape to the backside. The foam tape shows up much more than it does in real life due to the angle of the photograph.
Once all was dry I attached the red matting to my card base. Using foam tape I then attached the black soot background along with the sentiment.
Finishing touches included the gumdrops in a glitter red.
This is a departure for me from what I would normally do, and it was fun. I have no doubt whoever I sent it to will love the fun of it, and I hope you have enjoyed it as well.
