Hollyhock

Welcome to Watercolour Wednesday at Splitcoaststampers. I am hosting the challenge for today, which is to paint Hollyhocks. The video I used for the challenge can be found here.

I used a line drawing for my flowers, as doing in freehand leads me to large flowers, that are bigger than my card!

I painted using Daniel Smith watercolours, being Sap Green, Apatite Green on leaves and stem. For the flowers I used Quinacridone Rose, Alizarin Crimson and Hansa Yellow. I did not follow the video per say, I just painted using the colours where I wanted them.

I added in Prismacolor Pencil in Crimson Red for the markings, along with White watercolour for light.

I think it takes some practice with this flower, which I will do when I have time. It is a very pretty flower and would be a nice flower to send for someone's birthday.

I would like to do one that is more loose, which I lean toward in watercolour.

I hope you enjoyed my card today and I thank you for dropping by.

PS: I adore the wee glass candies you used as styling props here, too.
