Back to the card I made for today. I could not resist doing another card using the Lotus flower stamp, which is one of my faves from this latest release.
I started with the background. Using Arches Cold Press 140lb. watercolour paper I painted over the piece using Daniel Smith watercolour in a light wash of Jadeite Genuine. While the mix was still wet I stamped two of the flowers using Wendy Vecchi Leaf Green ink. As the background was still partially wet the image worked itself into the colour, leaving a ghost like print.
I dried the background before proceeding with adding the other colours, being Daniel Smith Jadeite Genuine, Cascade Green, Green Apatite Genuine. Again I dried the background, then added splatters using the same colours along with the hansa, pink and the scarlett and dried it again with my heat gun.
I then made a mixture using the gold and water from set 2 of Perfect Pearls and sprayed the background liberally. There is a beautiful shine to it, which doesn't show very much in the pictures.
I stamped the flower using the Arches card again and proceeded to watercolour. I first put down a base of Hansa Yellow, then added Quinacridone Rose and finished with Pyrrol Scarlett. In the centre I used the Hansa Yellow and some Jadeite Genuine. Once dry I fussy cut the flower.
In my original Misti I stamped the sentiment, which I did surgery on by taping over the "sunshine" part of the stamp while stamping it with the ink.
To finish I added my background to a Gina K Design Sea Glass card base. I then styled the flower and added to the card using foam squares, finishing with Nuvo Crystal Drops.
I thank you for your visit today. Up next on the hop is Laura Fulcher.
