This card is playing double duty today. The Inspiration Challenge at Splitcoaststampers, of which I am a Team member, is one reason for the card, and the other is my friend who needed a baby shower card, but she does not like all that "baby" stuff. lol
I think this little mouse from Colorado Craft Company is doing a great job of the double duty. She is the cutest little thing, with the biggest of ice cream cones. Right up my alley, I love ice cream.
The challenge has us visiting a site that is all about Paper Mache. There is much to chose from, but I kept coming back to these bunny pintgrams.
They are really cute and in thinking about these I had one at one point and have not a clue what happened to it. It was a cat.
To start this card I first did the stencil work for the background. Seeing as this is a double duty card, the heart and flower stencil represents my love for ice cream, and for the baby shower card, it represents the love for a new baby.
On the stencil plastic which is facing up, I rubbed on Squeezed Lemonade Distress Oxide and Kitsch Flamingo Distress Oxide Ink. Using my palette knife I then added the Opaque Crackle paste bringing the colours with it, then set it aside to dry. Once it was dry I added distress oxide ink splatters using the same colours.
Using Neenah cardstock I stamped the little mouse and the sentiment using Memento ink in Tuxedo Black. I felt this little mouse was too small for floral paper or even to stamp flowers and I kept thinking about Copic dots. I thought the dots would work to represent the paper mache, so that is what I did.
To do the colouring I used 12 different Copic colours for the dots, being YG00, G00, RV21, Y38, YG06, Y19, Y15, RV13, V12, RV04, Y02 and, BG32. The ice cream is RV04, RV13, RV21 and the cone is E97, E35 and E43. For the grass I used G07 and YG07.
Once I finished the colouring I die cut the piece using my Penny Black Circle die.
The pastels on the mouse and the fun of the ice cream I think can handle the double duty. The ice cream is yum, and I love it and the coloured little mouse is full of sweetness with it being a happy day for a new baby.
The circle I attached using Nuvo glue for the trim piece, and foam tape for the circle piece. I die cut the love die from pink card and glued on to the circle die at the bottom. To finish I added some yellow splatters using the distress oxide ink in Squeezed Lemonade.
On the inside I used the stencil again with some distress ink in the Kitsch Flamingo, then stamped and die cut a baby onesie from pink cardstock and added a Congratulations sentiment.
Another fun card to make and I loved getting a twofer so I could use this for the inspiration challenge tonight.
