This is for Watercolour Wednesday which is a challenge on Sunsets. If you wish, you can view the video we referred to here.
I was running out of time by the time I was ready to paint this. Life just seems to get away these days. In any event, for the most part I followed the tutorial given in the video.
I made a 6 x 6 card using Arches 140lb cold press watercolour paper, taping off the around the sides with painters tape.
I started with the sunset using Pyroll Orange mixed with Hansa Yellow. For the sky and water I used Ultramarine Blue.
I did rough clouds moving the paint for texture and leaving white space. I then did the water, adding in white paint.
I then painted in the mountains using Jane's Grey, adding a bit of the grey to the water.
To finish I added the wheat, painting with a mix of Raw Umber and Indanthrone Blue.
This was a fun painting to do, nice and relaxing, even though I was rushed!
