Today I have an all die card to share with you. It is rare for me to use all dies, I think because when I started making cards dies were all I used. I so wanted to stamp, but back then we did not have Misti's, so using dies was easier to do.
And now we can do it all!
I saw this die of the grazing deer by Penny Black when I was shopping at Scrap'n Stamp. It is a die that can be used for both watercolour and Copic markers, so in my cart it went. Today is the first day I have had a chance to play with it.
I die cut using Arches cold press watercolour paper, then proceeded to paint using simple choices of Daniel Smith watercolours, being Sap Green, Burnt Umber, Burnt Sienna and Manganese Blue. The Manganese Blue is on the circle behind the deer scene, which is a separate die.
Moving on to the leaf die, I painted with Daniel Smith Cadmium Yellow light. I then made a mixture of Sap Green with some Green Apatite and dragged the damp die through the mix adding a bit of the Manganese Blue. I then set everything aside to dry.
On my Neenah card base I did splatters using a #6 brush and the Sap Green, and Sap Green with Manganese Blue.
Once all was dry, with a little help from my heat gun, I removed a few of the die cuts from the leaf, then put back in place with glue. This added some movement as did the falling leaf that I added.
I then styled the leaf and positioned it on the card, gluing at the base only. I then glued the deer scene to the blue circle piece, and added foam tape to the back, before attaching it to the card. This secures the leaf further, but does not pin the leaves down.
My plan is to use this card for a male friends birthday, so I stamped a birthday the sentiment from Avery Elle using VersaFine Clair ink in Blue Belle.
This was another card that was fun to make and went relatively quickly considering I used watercolour. I very much like this die from Penny Black and will no doubt be using it again soon.
