Octopus

It is that time of the week where we share our paintings for the Watercolour Wednesday Challenge at Splitcoaststampers. The challenge this week is to paint an Octopus. You can find the video for this challenge here.

Drawing an Octopus is not my thing. I found this image when searching for watercolour line drawings, and decided I would like to paint this. I printed the image and traced the details using graphite on to Arches cold press watercolour paper.

The colours I used are Daniel Smith watercolours. They are Quinacridone Pink, Transparent Pyrrol Orange, Organic Vermillion, Phthalo Blue (Green Shade), Garbazole Violet, Hooker's Green, Lunar Black and Dr. Ph Martin's Bleed Proof White.

This is fun to paint, no doubt there! I love all the colours I used, which I think work for the Octopus.

For the eyes I used Lunar Black along with the Bleed Proof White. The white was also used for design on the head and the arm suckers.

It is always easier to get the drips moving on hot press paper, but with a little help I managed to get them moving.

In the end it did not last very long in my place. My friend came for a visit and being an
"all things aquatic" lover she scooped it up.  I barely had time to sign it!

In the end when someone just loves something the best thing is to share it.

I hope you enjoy this little aquatic adventure as well and I thank you for visiting today.
