It is that time to post my card for Watercolour Wednesday at Splitcoaststampers. This week the challenge is a Moon Painting Tutorial.
I watched the video but found that I was not fussed on the dark colours added to the moon when finishing. I much prefer the hints of colour, which is what I went with. After all, Art is what you make it and what makes you happy. This made me happy.
I first drew the half moon, which explains the shape! Starting with the moon I painted using the light yellow hue, then added in the yellow ochre, and left to dry.
Next I did some testing with my blue's and decided on Phthalo Blue Green Shade for my darker colour and Phthalo Turquoise for my lighter blue tone.
I worked wet in wet with the watercolours on both the moon and the surrounding area, adding water where I wanted the paint to run, and gave it a little "shove" to have it flow.
Normally when I paint I try to avoid plumes, in this case I welcomed them.
As I mentioned I did not go any further with the colours. I very much like the look of this as it is. What do you think?
Once all was dry I attached the painted piece to a blue card base. I did not add a sentiment as I will wait to see how I decide to use the card first.
Thank you for dropping by today. I hope you have enjoyed this card.
