Hello to you this Beautiful Day!
I am hosting the Inspiration Challenge at Splitcoaststampers today. My inspiration site is the Pinterest Boards of Rachel Turnbull where I found this butterfly.
I did not do a large butterfly as shown, but I took my colours from that butterfly to use for my card.
Using the stencil and my palette knife, I applied the Crackle distress texture to my watercolour card. I did not apply the texture paste to the entire card, but left empty spots such as the bottom right corner.
Once dry I sponged on distress oxide colours in Salvaged Patina, Wild Honey and Festive Berries.
Using my Gemini Jr I die cut the butterfly pieces. There are 2 pieces per butterfly. I then proceeded to paint the pieces using the coordinating distress inks, and the top piece of the butterfly I water coloured in the black.
To mix the black I started with the Neutral Tint, making a good size puddle. I then added the Phthalo Blue Green Shade, mixing until I was happy with the black colour. I then painted the butterfly toppers.
For the sentiment I sprayed another piece of watercolour paper using the Distress Oxide spray in Wild Honey. I then die cut the Beautiful die x 2 and glued the two together from the e to the l. For the B of the word I die cut 3 of the Wild Honey and 1 Black, gluing together with the black on the bottom.
I attached the butterflies with Nuvo adhesive, then attached the "eautiful" over the red butterfly, and the B to the left of it. I stamped day on a piece of the sprayed card and glued it under the sentiment die.
To finish up I added Midas Touch Shimmering Pen to the black butterfly die cuts.
