Touches of Gold

It is time for Watercolour Wednesday at Splitcoaststampers. I am hosting today's challenge and have picked a video entitled Doodling in Gold Pen. Of course if anyone wants to use silver they can.

In the video the artist used thicker doodle lines than I did. I wanted a delicate touch, so kept my lines on the thin side.

Using Arches cold press watercolour paper, my painted background is done using a Daniel Smith watercolour called Phthalo Blue (Blue, Red). I watered the paint down for the layers I did first, changing the tones with the amount of pigment added.

I think I should have done one more layer for the top to get better coverage, but I was running out of time! What else is new? lol

For the leaves I had a leaf that I really liked the shape of, so I stamped it on a scrap piece of paper to use as reference. I used my ruler as I painted to be sure the keep the leaves the same sizes. Whatever works I say!

The little vines I did not worry to much about, adding the tiny leaves, then adding some straggling stems hanging.

All the vines and leaves were done with my gold gel pen. One thing, the watercolour must be totally dry, or the pens will not work.

Thank you for dropping by today. If you like to watercolour, come and join us. You can find the challenge here.
