Wisteria

Here we are two short hours from midnight July 14th, and that means it is time for Watercolour Wednesday at Splitcoaststampers.

This week we are painting abstract Wisteria. You all know I love abstract art, and this flower is so fun to do. I did it in 18 minutes, I think that is the fastest I have ever done a watercolour. But time is not something I have today.

The colours are pretty simple with Daniel Smith Cobalt Blue, Winsor Newton Dioxide Violet, Daniel Smith Sap Green and Schmincke Cobalt Blue Deep.

The video for this challenge can be found here.

I used a #12 and #8 brush to do the flowers and the leaves and stems.

For this card I have used Arches cold press 140lb watercolour paper, and affixed my painted piece to a deep blue card base.

Part of the 18 minutes was drying time, but needless to say it was more damp time to add the second bit of colour.

I like the mix of the colours, and strange as it sounds the Cobalt Blue Deep is that pale Violet you see in the painting. There is a story about pigment behind that!

Thank you for stopping by today.
