This is Autumn Wishes, my card for Watercolour Wednesday at Splitcoaststampers.com We watched an English Sub-title video called Deciduous Tree. The artist explains his process throughout the video which is translated via the screen.
I am not the best at drawing trees. My art teacher always gets a chuckle when I moan about painting another tree. But I keep trying anyway.
Using Arches cold press watercolour paper I did not draw the tree first, I dove right in and painted. Starting with the tree trunk and branches I used Van Dyke Brown and Sepia along with Raw Sienna.
For the leaves I used Cadmium Yellow with a tad of Lemon Yellow and Cadmium Orange Hue, which I applied using a bundled up newspaper, which was fun.
To ground my piece I added a loose green lawn using Sap Green.
Using my mini Misti I stamped the sentiment using VersaFine Clair ink in Tulip Red. I find when I am doing these little sentiments on a split line, I stamp the first line then remove the stamp and line up the second line. I prefer the line spacing doing it this way.
Once everything was dry I glued my painting to a tent fold Gina K Designs card base called Coral Reef.
The card background I think adds a bit more of our beautiful autumn colours here in Southern Ontario.
I hope you enjoy this card today, and I thank you for your visit.
See you soon.
