Now, back to the cards I made for today's hop.
When picking the stamps I wanted to use I could not resist the Lion and the Elephants. They are both so cute, and I had to have both.
For this card I stamped using Fabriano Hot Press watercolour paper. I then picked out 13 distress ink colours, and put down the colours, one at a time, spritzing with water and painting each of the manes a different colour.
I painted his paws and tail using scattered straw with a lighter version on his face and added fun colours to his ears and the feathers. Once all my painting was done he was fussy cut.
For the background, again using distress inks I did a watercolour loose plaid using pinks, yellows, greens and salvaged patina. While still wet I sprayed the background with a mixture of perfect pearls and water, which gives a subtle sparkle to the background.
I then attached the background to my white card base using foam tape, and added the lion, also using foam tape. I die cut the banner and stamped the sentiment using VersaFine Clair ink, then attached with foam squares. A few sequins from Studio Katia finished this card.
Next up are the elephants. I decided to do a whimsical card using mostly a pastel colour palette. For the card base I used a stencil where I could divide the areas up to apply different colours of distress inks.
I then die cut the heart and used another stencil to add ink to the lower part of the heart, and stamped the hearts in place using VersaFine Clair ink in Tulip Red, then attached the heart to my card base using foam tape.
I then stamped the elephants using Memento Ink in London Fog and coloured using Copic markers. To make each elephant a bit different I reversed the Copic colour order to give the different look.
Once I was done with the colouring I fussy cut the elephants and styled each of them with my stylus and my Rubit Scrubber. I use this mat all the time for styling on one side and scrubbing stamps on the other.
In my Misti I stamped the sentiment to the bottom left side using VersaFine Clair Ink. I then attached the elephants using foam squares and finished with a few gems.
Up next on the hop is Allison. The complete list follows:
