This is "Birches".
It is time again for Watercolour Wednesday at Splitcoaststampers.com. Our video this week comes from Pamela Smader, and our hostess this week is Brenda.
I used 1/2 inch wide Pro painters tape for the trees. This tape does not require any preparation before using it. It is a bit expensive, but it goes a long way, and does not damage the paper, making it worth the money I think.
Pamela used darker blues and purples for her birch scene, but I have had enough of dark colours, so I mixed my own colour using Phthalo Green (Blue Shade) with Hansa Yellow Medium.
I dried the piece with my heat gun, and did a second layer of colour, then added splatters using just the Phthalo Green (Blue Shade).
For the Birch trees I mixed the black colour using Ultramarine Blue mixed with Raw Umber. I find this mixes to a darker black, which is what I like. You can use Cobalt Blue with Raw Umber, which makes a lighter colour of Black.
I knew in advance that I would not do well using a credit card, so I used a size 4 brush, which I found easy enough to use. Once done with adding the black to the trees, I went back and added some Raw Umber as well.
To finish I glued my watercolour piece to the Gina K Design card base using Nuvo Deluxe Adhesive. Following are Affiliate links for the products I have used today, at no extra cost to you.
