Meet "Friend Bloom".
Today I am posting two cards I have made for Scrap'n Stamp where I have used only colours from the Daniel Smith Watercolour Dot card with 66 colours in celebration of Scrap'n Stamp's birthday.
For this card I did my first layer using Lapis Lazuli Genuine, a colour I have been wanting to get for some time. It makes a lovely colour for my base.
Between each layer of colour I dried the flower with my heat gun on both cards.
I then blended in Iridescent Electric Blue as my main colour. On the bloom I have done several layers of colours, blending as I added. The third colour I used is Iridescent Sapphire.
For the leaves and leaf centre I used Jadeite Genuine along with Cascade Green, and for the flower centre I used Aussie Red Gold with the Irridescent Electric Blue in a lighter wash.
For both of my cards today I used the Quilted Embossing Folder. On this card I used Distress Oxide in Tumbled Glass.
I then die cut the area for my sentiment using the shadow die for the Hello Friend sentiment.
I die cut three layers for the sentiment, with the top layer being cut from the Fabriano paper so I could using the beautiful Irridescent Electric Blue to colour, doing several layers to achieve the darker colour and glued the sentiment in place.
To finish up I attached the top panel to my mini slimline card using foam tape. I then styled the flower pieces and attached to the card front using Nuvo adhesive and foam squares.
Next up is my second card, using the same products, but different colours picked from dot card.
This is "A Note".
I decided for this card I wanted the flower to have a saturation of the Quinacridone Coral and Raw Sienna Light.
However, to confuse you I started with Rose Madder Permanent, then added some Raw Sienna Light, and finally the Quinacridone Coral. I love the way the Rose Madder blends with the Quinacridone Coral.
To paint the leaves I used the Cascade Green, changing the second colour to Serpentine Genuine. The flower centre is the Coral along with the Aussie Red Gold.
Moving on to the Quilted Embossing folder I inked up the folder using Delicata Golden Glitz ink. I then splattered the embossing piece using the gold from the Gem Gansai watercolours and attached to my coral card base using Nuvo Adhesive.
I again styled the leaves and flowers and attached to the card using both Nuvo Adhesive and foam squares. To finish I stamped the sentiment from Penny Black using VersaFine Clair ink in Tulip.
I love the watercolour, so needless to say I very much enjoyed making these cards using the dot card, which is a great way to find out what colours you want and those you need!
I hope you have enjoyed my process as well and thank you for joining me.
