Happy Easter

 

This is "Happy Easter".

This card has been on my mind for a bit so I finally decided I would put my idea to paper and see how it looked. When I was done, I thought, I think I like it! lol

It feels like we have had a long winter, so bringing in some sunshine would warm us up. To do this I used a stencil and a pot of Daffodils and warm colours with Daniel Smith watercolours.

As I was going to be water colouring I am using a hot press card by Fabriano. Before I began with the colours, I die cut the paper using my Wonky Rectangle die. My card base is Neenah Classic Crest Solar White 110#.

This stencil previously had been used with watercolours, so the sticky from the previous application was still good and adhered the stencil to the watercolour paper.

I then began to add Hansa Yellow medium to the open areas of the stencil, keeping it wet as I went along so I could add in Pyrrol Scarlett to the bottom portions of the stencil.

While still wet I removed the stencil to get the feathering look for the rays. I let it dry a bit then added a watered down Hansa Yellow medium to the remaining rays.

I then did splatters with the yellow and scarlett colours on the bottom portion of the card and set everything aside to dry.

In the meantime, using my mini Misti I inked up the can portion of the stamp with VersaFine Clair ink in Nocturne and stamped on a small piece of watercolour card. 

I then painted the heart using the Pyrrol Scarlett and the Hansa Yellow on the ties, then fussy cut the heart.

To put it all together I first sponged on Barn Door distress ink to my card base on the left for the front card and on the righ for the inside.

I then attached the front piece using foam tape, adding the styled heart with a foam square. The sentiment as stamped with the Nocturne ink and die cut then attached using foam strips along with a few red gems.
