Meet "Happy Hi".
You will know straight away that I had fun making this card because of the colours. They send me to a happy place.
This card started with the embossed background layer and smooshing. That is to say putting down ink colours that I thought would look great together and combing them on the leaf embossed background.
For this I used Squeezed Lemonade, Twisted Citron, Cracked Pistachio and Mowed Lawn. I did smooshing as well as splatters in the different colours.
The layers of ink were dried in between applications to keep the colours bright. The final layer had a spritzing of sunflower perfect pearls applied.
Moving on to the bird, I made the mistake of grabbing my Nocturne ink when I really wanted Memento ink. Oh darn! But, as I had stamped this and ran it through my Scan'n Cut already, I kept with it. I did heat dry the image to set the ink, which did help.
This picture looks darker, but it is not. The photo is getting more light as it is facing the lighting head on. This shows the colours in a true value.
I moved on to colour the bird and tree trunk that I grabbed from another set using Copic markers. For the bird I first did a layer using Y21, then added in this order BG32, G03, G00 and B01. The birds beek is Y21 and the feet are E23. The tree trunk I did using Y21, E37, E57. The leaves are G03.
When I was doing the scan and cut I put down the sentiment and traced around it with a pencil to make the tag for the sentiment. Once it was cut, I added black micron pen over the pencil.
To put it all together I attached the embossed background piece to my card base using Nuvo adhesive. I then attached the bird and branch and sentiment in place using foam strips. I die cut the frame then cut it for my design, and attached using foam strips.
And, a scattering of sequins finished my card.
