This is "Love of Birds".
In case you have not guessed, I love both wild and pet birds, and have a pet bird named CC, short for Cinnie C. She is a Cinnamon Pied Cockatiel, and my 4th Cockatiel.
Today's card is for the Inspiration Challenge at Splitcoaststampers.com, where we had a visit to The Postman's Knock. I have been wanting to try some mixed media designs, but wanted to use watercolour methods instead of acrylic paints and pastes.
My inspiration for my card came from this pin.
I used stamps, stencils, embossing powder and dies for my card, along with distress and memento ink.
The clock represents time spent playing with CC. She loves going after my plants and hearing me shreak to not eat it. And, when she plays she will run around in a circle, which gets me laughing.
The chevron is her when she expands her wings and hangs upside down from her cage and the white circles within circles represent my keyboard which she loves to jump on.
For colour I put down distress inks and spritzed lightly, then applied the colour with my paint brush. The pink is because she is attracted to this colour, and the cracked pistachio colour represents my paint colour in home, while the antique linen represents her toys, some made with straw.
I wrote a message in the top right about the piece, and underneath that, there are birds in flight done in pink and teal Sakura Gelly Roll pens.
I added a lot of splatters as well, one of my favourite things on cards, and this piece is no exception. The white splatters are done with white watercolour.
The flower is die cut twice and glued together. I punched out the circle and went around the rim with a black Sharpie pen in black, then added Quinacridone Pink watercolour.
All the other circles were done with the circle stencil and a Sharpie black pen, except for the embossed circles.
Thank you for joining me today. I hope you have enjoyed this card, as I certainly enjoyed making it. It is always fun to try somthing new.
