This is "Smile".
One of my favourite things to do is watercolour a card and get lost in what I am doing. This is one of those cards. It seemed to paint itself.
This card was done for the Inspiration Challenge at Splitcoaststampers.com where we had a visit to design team member Amy Marshall's Pinterest Boards on Hat Inspirations. Inspiration for my card came from this hat.
The style and size of the fascinator is right up my alley, and of course the colours are wonderful, especially at this time of year.
For this card I am using Daniel Smith watercolours and painting on Arches cold press 140# paper. I have matted with Gina K Design card, and a Neenah card base.
In my mini Misti I stamped the image using VersaFine Clair ink in Nocturne. As my base coat I used a light coat of Lemon Yellow, painting all the flowers with this colour.
I let the lemon yellow dry before proceeding with the watercolour. Using wet in wet I added the cadmium yellow and rose madder, allowing them to blend. I was not fussed on the rose madder, so did a second coat, this time using the yellow with quinacridone pink.
For the stem I used sap green along with hooker's green. The centre is done with a gold glitter pen. Once I finished with the flowers I moved on to the background, going around the flowers with cadmium yellow, sap green and maganese blue.
In my mini Misti I stamped the sentiment using VersaFine Clair ink in Green Oasis.
With the background completed, I added the splatters, something I love to add to my cards if suitable. I clearly did not realize I had so much white watercolour on my brush when I started to splatter, but to late! I removed some after the fact, then continued.
I also added the pink, dark green and the manganese for splatters along with a Nuvo Shimmer pen.
