Gold Year Birthday

Meet "Gold Year Birthday".

Today is about celebrating a Gold Year Birthday.

 If you don't know about the Gold Year Birthday, it is a celebration of one's day of the month birthdate and the year you turn the age of your birthdate. i.e. my birthdate is June 17, so my gold birthday would be the year I turned 17.

First I should say that this is not how this card started. Initially I did the stencilling on white cardstock, but the look failed for me, it needed dimension as well as more texture, yes, more texture.

So I fussy cut the candles from my original card, and went to work redesigning, and this is where it took me.

I started by embossing a die cut plate for my background, running it through my Gemini Jr. as noted below. I then went around the edges of the card with Delicata Gold ink before attaching it to my Neenah card base. 

(To emboss with my Gemini Jr. I use two Sizzix Glitter cutting plates, with an Art Bin magnetic sheet. If need be, I will shim with paper, but that is rare.)

To do the candles I used Neenah cardstock and A Colorful Life Designs Big Candles stencil, adding the Stickles Nebula Gel to the candle body and Gold Paper Glaze by Picket Fence Studios for the flame.

In the mean time I die cut the "Celebrate" die using gold mirror card and Neenah card, gluing them together with Nuvo adhesive. On a seperate piece of cardstock I stamped the sentiment using Delicata Gold Ink, trimming it for my card.

I fussy cut the pieces out individually from the original card and added some gold glitter marker along some of the edges of the candles.

Using foam strips I attached the candles to the card front, then attached the flames for each. I then glued the "Celebrate" along with the sentiment strip to the candles using Nuvo adhesive.

I love how this card turned out, even though it was not my initial go. It is always fun to do a bit of fancy. I hope you have enjoyed it as well.
