Same Cell

 

Let me introduce "Same Cell".

For the month of May I will be posting cards I have made for and using A Colorful Life Designs Stencils. This is my first post using the wonderful Potholder Stencil. I have done a few cards using this stencil, which I will share with you in the next week.

For this card I decided I would treat it similar to a rainbow, but not all the colours. I picked out the colours I would use, all of which are Distress Oxide inks. 

I taped the design squares one at a time so I could reuse the tape pieces. (What can I say, it is expensive tape, but good tape) I applied the colour, starting at the bottom with the darkest colour, then moving to the next square keeping it in the same colour family.

When applying the ink using my brushes, I applied from the centre out as I wanted the sides of the squares lighter in colour.

For the yellow I wanted to keep the colours similar, so I used the Mustard Seed twice. The bottom is full strength Mustard Seed and the middle square I have applied it with a light hand. The top square is squeezed lemonade.

Once I was finished with the colours I stamped the sentiment using Memento ink in Tuxedo Black. I then added a few gumdrops in coordinating colours.

The front of the card is clean and simple so I kept the inside clean and simple as well and used only the Saltwater Taffy to colour the area, which can be seen in the following pictue.

I cannot get enough of that Saltwater Taffy, such a beautiful colour.
