Now that I have finished with the business, let us get to the fun part, and the reason for this hop, the card I made for today.
For this card I am using Tim Holtz/Sizzix 3D embossing folder called Mechanics. I love this embossing folder and had a lot of fun with it when making this card.
How about a bit of grunge, that is done with Kuretake Gansai Tambi Gem watercolours. Gem watercolours are not usually what comes to mind when one hears the word "Grunge".
But I think it works for a few reasons. I am using black watercolour paper, which is 140lbs. I spritzed the paper on both sides before running through my Gemini Jr., which I did 3 times. The impression you will get with these 2 functions is amazing.
Before starting to watercolour, I applied a fair amount of water to the card, then starting with the green, added in the colours. First was the green, then the blue and last, the gold.
Not just one layer however, I applied 4 layers of colour to this, allowing each layer to dry naturally in between. This had a lot to do with the grunge feel.
I did not include the gold until the final layer of colour, which kept it looking clean.
To finish up this card I die cut he "hey" die once using the honey gold card, and 2 layers of the blue underneath, shadowing the gold "hey".
The same was done with "DAD", using the Peridot cardstock and dies from Concord & 9th. This is also shadowed with the blue layers, and both were glued together using Nuvo adhesive.
I hope you have enjoyed this card and thank you for visiting today. Up next is Annette.
