Abstract Birch Trees

This is "Abstract Birch Trees".

This card I have done for the Inspiration Challenge at Splitcoaststampers.com. We had a visit to the Reproduction Gallery for the challenge. They also have Pinterest Boards which is where I found my inspiration under Abstract Art.
To build my scene, I am using a Honey Bee stencil called Layering Birch Trees. I applied Ranger Opaque Matte texture paste to the stencil that had the most trees and set it aside to dry. I went and watched my soap while waiting - lol!

When dry I started to add the colours. I used Copic Markers, Posca Pens and Sharpies for the colours. To the Birch trees I added the Posca Pen running it down the tree on its side to create texture.
Using a Black Sharpie I drew in some branches and added the black to the birches. I also used a gray metallic pen on the birch trees. I could have used acrylic paints but opted against it as I did not have all the colours I wanted to use. I have to stock up on those.

To the scene I also added Dr. Ph. Martin's Bleedproof watercolour, which also created texture in the scene.
I wish I had made a bigger card as I would have liked more trees. Next time I must remember that. I did consider added a sentiment across some of the trees, but decided against it. This way I can use the card for any reason in due course.

I do like the way it all turned out though, and I hope you do as well.
Thank you for joining me today.

  1. Hi Kia - I had to drop over here to see how you did your trees, you didn't list the tree stencil on SCS - what a beautiful design with wonderful colors!
