Meet "falala Snowflakes".
This Christmas card came about from the stencil piece inside the scalloped circle, which was made using A Colorful Life Design stencil from the latest release called "Dotted Poinsettia".
My friend Joyce made the stencil piece a couple of weeks ago, when she was here and I was working on the November release. She had never used the Mica sprays before and wanted to try them out.
She used Mica Stains Set #4 colours. The "problem" happened when she picked up the stencil by the corner, not realizing the inks would run, and let it dangle as she transferred it closer to her work space, and yes, all the colours ran. She was so disappointed, and I could understand why. But I told her not all was lost.
I noticed she kept leaving the piece here instead of taking it home to use, and that told me she was not having any of what I said! So, yesterday I set about making a Christmas card with non-traditional Christmas colours, using the stencil piece, and I think she is going to like it.
As the original piece was done on white cardstock I first sponged on Cracked Pistachio Distress ink, then die cut it using the circle die piece of the Inverted dies. From the copper glitter cardstock I die cut the Inverted Scallop portion of the die and attached the scallop to the circle piece using foam squares.
Using the Altenew "Organic Linen" embossing folder I embossed the Sea Glass cardstock x 2, (one for inside as well as outside). You can see this colour is very close to the cracked pistachio.
To get a good impressions when embossing, I mist both sides of the paper that is going to be embossed before running it through my machine, then let it dry completely before moving on.
Once dry I attached the embossed piece to my Neenah cardbase, and also attached the piece inside the card.
From the green cardstock I die cut two pieces of the "falala" die, then cut a piece from the glitter cardstock, using the green as a shadow, gluing in place on the left side, while on the right using a foam square.
I die cut two each of the snowflakes from the green paper, glued them together and attached them to the the circle piece, and painted them with some Nuvo glitter shimmer. Once dry I added the white pearls.
I hope my friend likes this card, which she will see when I post it later on facebook and as I have tried to show, all is not lost most of the time!
