August 2023 Release for A Colorful Life Design

It is August 1st, and that means time to share my cards for the August release by A Colorful Life Designs. I have many cards this month to share - so many awesome stencils!

To start, above is one of my favourite cards for August. The stencils used are Webby Mask in the background and Halftone Circle in the forground where I also used glitter paste in pink. On the Webby Mask I first embossed using the stencil and running it through my Empress machine

Before applying the inks I applied Pixie Spray as it is a delicate stencil.

The background colours are Scattered Straw, Worn Lipstick, Cracked Pistachio and Tumbled Glass and the Bunny is coloured with Copics using E13, E11, E02, E000 for the Bunny and for the flower and leaf I used R85, R83, R81, G02, G00 anf Y02.

The Bunny is by Penny Black called Flying By Stamp and the sentiment, which is stamped using VersaFine Clair ink in Charming Pink is included in the set.

Next up is Hello. I am using In and Out Dots Stencil on this card along with Tattered Rose, Saltwater Taffy and Worn Lipstick Distress Oxide inks.

I also applied Distress Resist Spray with a small dauber to get the splotchy look. I stamped the sentiment from Avery Elle Sentiments using VersaFine Clair ink in Nocturne and added black pearls to finish.

This stencil is called Chutes and Ladders, which I turned into a Bird Tree House. You know me, there is always a way to include my love of birds in my cards.

For this card I used, from the top, Pinkfresh Inks in Evergreen, Emerald City, Meadow and Mint. I stamped using Memento Ink and coloured using Copic markers. The birds set is from Colorado Craft Company Stamp and Dies and called Tiny Birds Worm. For die cutting I used my Empress machine.

The Copic colours are Y08, B01, G03, G07, YR18, E13, E25 and C5 for those worms!

This beautiful stencil is called Sleek Deco stencil. Is it not a stunning stencil. I first embossed my cardstock using the stencil and running it through my Empress machine to achieve the added dimension.

I borrowed this layout from Karen Dunbrook, and to change it up a bit I added the Candied Apple inking along the edge of the added layer.

My ink colours are Fossilized Amber, Ripe Persimmon and Candied Apple. For further interest I die cut the leaf by Penny Black called Viridescent in white cardstock and glued it in place using Art Glitter Glue.
When I remember, I spritz my inked stencil again to activate the ink for another print and place a piece of Hammermill cardstock on top of the stencil to transfer the pattern. I rub the back of the cardstock firmly to ensure the ink transfers, then check a corner before removing the cardstock to ensure coverage.

You will note the difference between the surfaces of the inked panels, the front cover has much more depth from the embossing.

This stencil is called Bold Diamonds, and I would say it is another one of my favourties, and I wanted it to be white. So I used Picket Fence Paper Glitz in Sparkle to achive this look.

The card sparkles with the addition of the Glitz, so pretty! For extra dimension I also ran this stencil through my Empress machine to emboss before applying the Paper Glitz, which added a lot of dimension. I think I am hooked on this technique.

To finish up I stamped the sentiment from A Colorful Life Designs Stamp set called Glitter using VersaFine Clair ink in Charming Pink. I then added Pops of Color in Silver and slapped the back of the card on my desk to flatten them to appear like enamel dots.

It is not Christmas in July anymore, but when I did this card it was, so that is my story! But this would also make a great Winter card.

I am using Masks Grand Arch 5 for this card. I first added the colour starting with the inking on the right side, being Twisted Citron, then inking the left side using Picked Raspberry. I finished the inking in the centre using Peacock Feathers.

Using Stampers Anonymous Bottlebrush Trees I heat embossed the 3 trees using Lawn Fawn white embossing powder, and finished with a few gems in corresponding colours.

Another stencil I just love, this is Mad Swirls stencil. Yes, I embossed this card front by running it through my Empress machine before applying the colour. I just love the look.

My colours are also favourites, being Worn Lipstick, Squeezed Lemonade and Salvaged Patina. I then stamped the Altenew Little Mushroom House using Memento Ink in Tuxedo Black and die cut the piece, then proceeded to colour with Copic markers in R43, R22, RV11, RV13, RV02, G14 and Y11.

I then attached the pieces to my card front using foam squares.
(I always decorate the inside of my cards, which is why I use the entire stencil when making a card. This way I have a 5.5 inch decorated piece that I can cut down for a A2 card, giving me that panel piece for the inside, which shows in the above card).

Another stencil I love, which is called Mid Century Angels. To ink up this stencl I am using Gina K Design inks in Ocean Mist, Jelly Bean Green and Warm Cocoa

I readily admit this is the first time I have used brown on a stenciled card, but it works for me especially given I wanted to add the Bear which is by Penny Black called Cuppa. The sentiment is included in the set, which I stamped with the Gina K Design ink in Warm Cocoa.

To colour the Bear I used Copics in E57, E55, E53, E04 and the mug is BG01. I fussy cut the Bear and cut the sentiment, propping both of them up using foam squares and finishing with some enamel dots to match.

I picked this stencil to use with this particular stamp. Have you ever done that? I just knew when I saw it that is would be perfect for my cow and the colours I wanted to use.

The stencil is called Square Line Up stencil. I used Scattered Straw and Black Soot for my stencil colours applying the colours with my Waffle Flower Shader Brushes.

I then stamped using Memento Ink Tuxedo Black this absolutely adorable image by Penny Black called Moo-velous, and coloured with Copic markers in C3, C5, C7, E01, E02, Y32, Y06, R83 and B01. Once I was finished colouring I fussy cut the image. I then stamped the image on my card front, again using the Memento Ink in Tuxedo Black, and added the coloured image over using thin foam squares.

So cute, just as I imagined it would be.

This stencil is called Sunflowerly. And that it does, captures the sun and the flowers when coloured as I have done.

I used distress oxide inks in Scattered Straw, Candied Apple and Gathered Twigs. At the tips of the Scattered Staw portion of stenciling I added Brown Sharpie strokes for further interest.

On all of the red bits of the flower I applied Nuvo Glitter Gloss for some sparkle. Once dry I trimmed up the piece and matted using brown cardstock.

I then attached the card with the matting to my Neenah card base and stamped the sentiment from Avery Elle More Sentiments using Memento Ink in Rich Cocoa.

I am using Mad Swirls stencil for this card, showing off the design by way of Picket Fence Paper Glitz in Sparkle. This card is 5.5 inch card so I would have a panel for the inside of my card. I then embossed the stencil pattern onto my cardstock using my Empress machine

I then applied the distress oxide colours using favourites Cracked Pistachio, Tumbled Glass, Worn Lipstick and Scattered Straw. Once the inks were dry I applied Paper Glitz in Sparkle using the Mad Swirls stencil.

When dry I cut the card to A2 size, applying a panel on the inside and the piece to the front. I then added a Sizzix Butterfly along with many gems to finish my card.

This is Spyhole stencil - such a great name! This is a small stencil sized at 3 x 6 inches. It is for me the perfect size for a side piece to a card, going landscape or portrait.

I made a landscape card with the stencil applied down the 4.25 inch part of the card using distress inks in Scattered Straw, Worn Lipstick and Festive Berries.

Along the edges of the stenciled piece I applied Pops of Color in Flamingo for that all important Glitter, then stamped the sentiment from the Glitter Stamp set using Pinkfresh Candied Apple ink. To the centre of the card I applied Snowflake Pop of Color, which takes on the colours it is applied over, which is perfect.

This is Winding Threads, my last card for this release. I will have one more card that will be published August 15th.

This stencil is also 3 x 6. I also added embossing to this piece by running it through my Empress machine. It adds such lovely texture to the card.

For colour I am using Cracked Pistachio, Twisted Citron and Squeezed Lemonade. To change up the colour of the Twisted Citron I went over it lightly with the Cracked Pistachio brush that had been cleaned of most ink. I like the colour toned down a bit.

I matted the piece with Gina K Design Black Onyx cardstock, then attached it to my Neenah cardbase. In my mini Misti I stamped the sentiment from the Glitter stamp set using VersaFine Clair ink in Nocturne.

To finish this card I added a few clear sequins.
