It is that time for Watercolour Wednesday at Splitcoaststampers.com. Today we are viewing this video which shows very high waves. I instantly knew I would mess that up, so I went with a design a little easier for me to manage, the waves that is.
I started by painting the horizon, then painted the tree area on the left side followed by the beach. Once they were done I did the sky, then the water and ended with the waves.
The colours I used are French Ultramarine Blue, Cerulean Blue, Naples Yellow, VanDyke Brown, Viridian Green. Sap Green and Hookers Green.
For the waves I used Winsor Newton Gouache in Permanent White.
I have at least four layers of each of the colours put down. When dry it of course gets lighter and I wanted to keep the darker colours, hence more layers.
My painting is 5" high x 6" wide on Arches cold press watercolour paper and using Daniel Smith watercolours.
I thought this would make a nice birthday card for a guy so I added a birthday greeting inside the card. I am using Scrapbook.com dies called Birthday Wishes on Printable Cotton Canvas.
I die cut the background for the greeting from the cotton canvas paper and added Copic B29 around the edges. On the canvas paper the Copic feathers out, which I love!
Thank you for joining me today. I hope you have enjoyed this card.
See you next time.
