It is Snowing

 

Meet "It is Snowing".

Another bird from the Penny Black Nature Sings collection. I have one more to share with you before this collection is finished. I certainly have been in my glory watercolouring these birds.

During the day I play music for my little Kiwi which is a recording of Gouldians chatting and flying about. My bird loves this and certainly reacts to the sounds with excitement.

But, back to my card. This is a 4.25 square card. I painted in the branch adding some left over leaves for interest and using Burnt Umber and Sepia.

On the birds chest I painted with Cadmium Yellow light and Cadmium Red Deep mixing until I got the red colour I wanted.

The rest of the bird I painted first with a layer of Burnt Sienna to get that rusty colour. While still wet I added Burnt Umber and Sepia.

I let everything dry then added a light layer of white watercolour splatter to mimic the snow just starting to arrive.

I matted the piece with Gina K Designs Chocolate Truffle, doing the same with the piece for the inside of the card.
