Introducing the Northern Cardinal.
There is nothing more wonderful than to spot a Northern Cardinal, with their gorgeous red feathers and his black mask!
It is bitterly cold in my area, which is what sent me to watercolour this Cardinal where I added in the flowers, and I wanted to continue painting birds from the Natures Sings stamp set by Penny Black.
The background stamp is also by Penny Black called Rosa. I first painted the bird, then added the background by masking out the bird and stamping the floral on. The do eat the flowers!
To watercolour the Cardinal I used several reds being Cadmium Red, Scarlet Red and some Quinacridone Pink on the breast area, which darkened the area.
A bit of Dr. Ph. Martins Bleedproof white watercolour and Payne's Grey finished my watercolouring of the bird.
To finish up I trimmed the watercolour to 3.75 x 5" and matted with Gina K Designs black cardstock, then fitted to a Neenah cardbase using Art Glitter glue.
Using VersaFine Clair ink in Green Oasis I stamped part of a sentiment "sing a song".
For the inside I layered a piece of the black cardstock, then topped with a layer of white, and stamped the thank you sentiment using VersaFine Clair ink in Nocturne.
Thank you for joining me today. I appreciate the time you all take to share my cardmaking with me.
See you next time.
