This is "Gladiolus".
I painted this for today's Inspiration Challenge where we are visiting K. van Bourgondien Dutch Bulbs. Clearly I do not normally do a 9 x 12 inch painting for a challenge, but I decided I really wanted to paint these beautiful Glads. I took my inspiration from this bunch of flowers. To watercolour I am using Daniel Smith paints along with Arches cold press watercolour paper.
They are by far my favourite summer flower, demanding attention from all who come across them. Mind you I do not have Glads with blue leaves, but given a chance to paint using the blue is a plus plus I say!
I sort of followed a video by Liesl's Artistic Studio. My computer is in another room, not anywhere close to my craft room. So I look at the paintings I want to attempt, and wing it from there.
To watercolour I used Abandoned Coral, Prussian Blue, Cerulean Blue, Phthalo Blue (red shade), Hooker's Green, Green Apatite Genuine, Jadite Genuine, Serpentine Genuine and Violet Dioxide by Winsor Newton.
I do like the way this has turned out fortunately. I would not be a good day if I spent the time I did and I ended up not liking it! lol
Thanks so much for your visit, much appreciated!
See you next time.
