Life is Beautiful!
I am up on the Technique Junkies blog today with this card, using Hydrangeas from the June release. There is a lot of detail in this image, which sets the scene for watercolouring in my humble opinion.
My personal watercolour palette has a mix of paint brands. I normally buy the 5ml tubes to start, as they are not expensive and I can try the colour before investing further. I settle on colour, not brand. I have Winsor Newton, Schmincke, DaVinci and Daniel Smith. Below I have given the details of the colours I used. The Cad Yellow Light I used as a base for the leaves, and the Lemon Yellow for the base of the flowers.
To begin, using my mini Misti I stamped the image using Ranger Archival Ink in Jet Black on Arches Cold Press watercolour paper. I am using my personal watercolour palette and began by painting the soil, moved on to the leaves and ended with the flowers. There are three layers of colour down to get these rich colours. I let my piece dry naturally as I find that the colours stay more vibrant when I do this. I finished the flowers with a bit of Nuvo Shimmering Midas Touch.
With the watercolouring done I matted my piece with black card stock and attached to a green base. In my mini Misti I then stamped the sentiment and heat embossed with white embossing powder, attaching to my card base using foam squares.
