Meet CC Says Happy Birthday.

The Clean and Simple Challenge at Splitcoaststampers today is called Water Works. I had planned on using this Altenew Stamp Set before I saw the challenge. To incorporate the water works into my card I decided on large dripping water colours, showing the branches and leaves hanging over the edge of my “waterfall“.

Starting with the background, I used Distress Oxide inks in Twisted Citron, Cracked Pistachio and Peacock Feathers, laying the colours down on my media mat and spritzing with water. I then tapped my paper in the inks, twisting from side to side to mix the inks together.

Adding more water to the mixture, with a clean wet large brush (#10 used here) I painted down clean waterlines for the paint to follow. With my brush I then added more colour to the top layer, allowing it to flow down the path. With a damp brush I then sent along the sides of the dripping paint which allowed it to bloom out slightly.

Once my panel was dry, I wet it again with Perfect Pearls, a technique I love to use with Distress Oxides. Lots of Perfect Pearls and setting the piece aside to dry.

While things were drying I added Mowed Lawn to the mixture and smooshed more paper around to pick up the darker colour. I then stamped these pieces with the leaves from the stamp set using VersaFine Clair ink in Nocture, and in my Gemini Jr. I die cut them out. I also stamped and die cut my little Chirp Chirp in the lighter ink colours. I plan to include a little Chirp Chirp on my cards in the future whenever possible.

To finish up I die cut the panel with my Penny Black die and attached the piece to a black card base. I then stamped the branch and sentiment using the Nocturne ink, styled the leaves and added them in the corner over the branch. And finally. I added a scattering of Nuvo Morning Dew Crystal Drops.

Thank you for stopping by my blog today. Following are Affiliate links to the products I used on today’s card, at no cost to you. There are still problems with the link showing as a shopping bag, however I have double checked all my links and they go to the correct stores.
