August Release from Technique Junkies.

I have four cards to share with you today as part of the Technique Junkies August Release, and up first is I’ll Be Watching You.

When I saw this stamp I was immediately reminded of my friend and neighbour who has three (3) rotweillers, and this is what happens at her house x 3. The don’t beg, they just stare you down!

Using Fabriano Hot Press water colour paper I soaked the area where I wanted colour then dropped in Distress Oxide in Pickled Raspberry, and blew it to give a feathering look, then added bits of DOX Violet.

Once dry I stamped the the dog using Distress Oxide in Blueprint Sketch and Wilted Violet and stamped the sentiment Using VersaFine Clair Nocturne. To finish I added Bakers Twine in the Purple/White and a few drops of Rosewater Jewel Drops.

My second card is my idea of a hot dessert sunset using these exploding colours of Distress Oxide inks in Wilted Violet, Blueprint Sketch and and Carved Pumpkin. I put down the colour on my Media mat and layed my water colour paper in it, not moving too much as I did not want much mixing of the colours. I really like the results though, perfect for this kind of card.

I then stamped the Desert Landscape Border using VersaMark ink and heat embossed with purple embossing powder, and finished by stamping the Grain of Sand sentiment using VersaFine Clair in Nocturne.

My third card is the beautiful Echinacea. I opted to water colour my panel using Arches Cold Press 140lb paper and my personal watercolour palette. Any form of ink can be used to water colour, do not feel you need water colour paints.

I went around the edge making the border a bit larger using a Navy water based marker and angled the flower panel to the pink matting underneath. I very much like the darker blue background on part of the card.

My last card I think is a favourite. I used Ken Oliver Color Burst powders, and a bit of Daniel Smith Cadmium Yellow to brighten the top.

When I use Color Burst powders I dampen my water colour paper first, then sprinkle the powders and spritze to give me an idea on the amount of colour I have down. This worked out just as I imagined it would, makes me happy when that happens.
