The Pier.

The Clean and Simple Challenge at Splitcoaststampers this week is to show our Sunsets. I am fortunate to face west and often witness beautiful sunsets, and when I lived up north we watched the gorgeous sunsets over the lake, which is what inspired this card.

This image is Technique Junkies Old Pier. As I am going to apply my watercolour direct to my stamp I first stamped with the Fadeout No Line Ink, which gives my watercolour something to grip to other than a bare stamp. I then applied my colours, except for the brown in a loose fashion.

I used yellow, oranges and coral, applying a few layers of the colours. Once the lighter colours were finished I added the Burnt Umber and Sepia on the piers, then stamped the birds with VersaFine Clair in Pinecone, along with the sentiment.

Just under the Take Flight I added Nuvo Midas Touch shimmer pen which depicts the suns sparkle as it sets. I added the sparkle across the water under the sun as well.

Normally I would leave a white area which would be the sun, but I really did not want a break in the colour, so I opted instead to use the Midas Touch Pen.

To finish I matted with brown card stock and attached all to a pale pink card base. It was fun making this card, and I hope you enjoy it as well.
