A December Birthday.
December birthday’s sometimes get lost in all that is Christmas. So when it came time to make a card for my friend, I used a Poinsettia, but went totally off Christmas except for sparkle.
Using Fabriano Hot Press watercolour paper I made a puddle of Distress Oxide Ink in Vintage Photo and water, then took my roller and rolled the mixture over my piece of paper. I wanted a relatively even amount of ink on my paper which is why I used my roller and let dry.
In my Origianal Misti I stamped the Poinsettia using VersaFine Clair ink in Nocturne. Using Dr.Phil Martin’s Ink mixed with water I painted the leaves and flowers of the Poinsettia with a light wash.
Using Quinacridone Gold watercolour I added a layer of colour to the area surrounding the Poinsettia, which gave a nicer tone to the area.
I then water coloured the Poinsettia with the gold, blending in with the Coral. Once dry I added another layer of Quinacridone Coral to the top leaves.
When all was dry I placed the piece in my Misti and stamped again with Versamark Embossing Ink, then heat embossed with black embossing powder and heat embossed.
I trimmed the piece to 4.25 x 5.75, matted with black then attached to a Copper Metallic card base. I die cut 3 pieces of the “birthday” from black cardstock and glued them together then attached to my card base. I stamped the Happy and heat embossed with gold embossing powder, then sponged on a bit of the Vintage Photo Distress Oxide and added foam squares to attach to my card base.
To finish up I added Nuvo Midas Touch Shimmering Pen to the birthday sentiment along with bits and pieces of the Poinsettia.
