Happy Hugs.

Another card to share today, I was going to say for Valentine’s Day, but this card could be sent for any number of occasions. I will be using it for a Valentine Birthday.

For the background using Strathmore Bristol Smooth paper, and my new to me stencil from A Colorful Life called Damask, I did the Stencil Monoprint technique by Lee-Ann Cross. You can find the link to this technique under my Tutorials Section/Tutorial Ideas.

I used my new Ink on 3 Atelier Inks for the background. I love these new inks for so many reasons, but first they are Artist Grade inks. You can stamp with them, sponge with them, blend with them and watercolour with them, and by watercolour I mean you can use your damp watercolour brush to pick your ink up directly from the ink pad. Amazing!

For the background I used the Goddess Green, Peacock Blue and Jam Purple, spritzed my stencil with water and applied my paper to my stencil – a little different than the way Lee-Ann does it. But the results are what is important.

Once the piece was dry I die cut using my Penny Black Die Elegant Stitching, then die cut the heart out using my Memory Box Wrapped Stitch Hearts Die. This is such a hard die to get, yet it is my favourite heart die and I use it a lot.

Using the Bristol Smooth paper in my mini Misti I stamped the sweet little birds with the Paint It Black ink and proceeded to watercolour the birds using my water colour brush directly to the ink pads. For the beaks I used the Marilyn Red and Bee Sting Yellow mixed, and for the feet I used a watered down of the Twiggy Brown. Don’t you just love those names?

To put it together, I attached the background to a pale green card base. I then die cut a heart piece of fun foam and glued it in place, then glued in place the background heart.

I fussy cut the birds and attached them with foam squares to the heart. In my mini Misti I then stamped the sentiment using the blue ink, then attached the birds with foam squares.

I am entering this card in the Penny Black Saturday Challenge Anything Goes, the CAS Stencil Challenge Use a New Stencil , the CAS Watercolour Card Challenge and the Craft Stamper Challenge Take It Make It Challenge.
