Today I am hosting the Inspiration Challenge at Splitcoaststampers, which is such a treat for me. I love this challenge, and make a point to carve out time to play it every week.
For Inspiration this week I have chosen a Pinterest site called The Zhush. The owners name is Sue De Chiara, and she is a full time blogger. Currently she has 145 Boards, so I narrowed it down to her Inspiring Tables board for my challenge. I figured with 727 pins, there was a lot for everyone.
For my card I picked this pin using the colours to design my card.
For my card base I am using Arches Cold Press Watercolour paper, along with my die cut flower.
Using Washi tape I taped off the stripes and painted them using gold ink from Tsukineko called Vegas Gold. My stripes do not go across the page, I gradually picked up m brush as I was painting to give the unfinished look. Of note, I removed the Washi tape as I completed the accompanying stripe.
I then set my card base aside to dry naturally and moved on to the flower.
In my mini Misti I stamped the flower, again using Arches watercolour paper and VersaMark Embossing Ink, being sure to give a couple of inkings to the stamp to get full covering. Using gold gilded embossing powder I heat embossed the image.
To colour the image I used Nuvo Aqua Aqua Flow brushes in the Fresh Green from the Spring Meadow set, and the Flamingo Pink from the Surprise Party set. I kept my pink a tad darker than the pink shown in the Inspiration as I wanted more contrast.
Before attaching to my card base I styled the flower slightly then attached using foam squares. I then stamped the little butterfly which is from the Penny Black Snippets set using the Leaf Green ink.
To finish up I splattered the card with my Midas Touch Shimmering Pen and added a few gumdrops in the pink.
