For the hop I decided to make two cards, the first being “Beware” using products from Picket Fence Studios. Here I used BFF Owl Stamp and Die, along with Down to the Last Drop Stencil, and sentiments from It’s Peopley Out There and Natural State of Sarcasm.

Along with the stencil background I also did the distress oxide background, using part of it for the front and the balance on the inside of my card which shows below.

To start I first did the oxide background, as this would determine the colours I would use. It never fails that my plan changes as I go along. I started with Distress Inks in Broken China, Peeled Paint and Vintage Photo. I then added in some Peacock Feather.

I added the colours one at a time, starting with the lightest colour being the Broken China. I pounced my watercolour paper in the puddle of ink and water in different areas, then heat dried. I continued with the Peeled Paint, Vintage Photo then the Peacock Feathers was added. When all was dry I die cut the piece using my Spellbinders Circle Die.

I then moved on to the stencil work, using my Life Changing Brushes and the Peacock Feathers, Peeled Paint and Vintage Photo, changing between the colours of Peeled Paint and Vintage Photo.

On white cardstock I stamped the owl using Memento Ink and proceeded to colour with Copic Markers. YG00, Y13, Y17 for the eyes, Y00, Y13, Y18 for the Bow with Nuvo Midas Touch Shimmering Pen added, Y13, Y17 for the Neckace, E31, E35, E37 for the Body, B21, B24, BG49 for the Sweater and E31, BG11, BG34, BG49 for the feathers.

To finish the card front I attached the partial circle to the card base, then attached the Owl using foam squares. I then stamped the sentiment using VersaFine Clair Ink in Nocturne.

Moving on to the inside I attached the distress oxide background to a turquoise matting then attached to the inside card base. I stamped the sentiment from the , splitting it into two lines using VersaFine Clair Ink in Nocturne.

For my second card I am using Gina K Designs Elegant Asters Stamp and Die Sets, Gina K Design Inks, Distress Ink in Peacock Feathers, Gold Embossing Powder and a Simon Hurley Stencil called Backsplash.

On my card base being 120lb cardstock, I did the stencilling using Key Lime and Lucky Clover from the Gina K. Designs Ink 2018 assortment set, along with Distress Ink in Peacock Feathers. I then applied the texture paste to the bottom left corner creeping up the page on the diagonal and set aside to dry.

I then die cut 3 of the wishes sentiment and glued them together using Nuvo Adhesive, then colouring the top one using Copic Markers in YG03 and YG07 and added YG63 via dots for the top layer.

I then stamped the flower, leaves and butterfly heat embossing with the gold embossing powder from Brutus Monroe. Love this embossing powder – perfect details every time. I then watercoloured the flower and leaves using my paint brush with a small amount of water and the colours I used to do the stencilling.

To finish I arranged everything on my card, using Nuvo Adhesive to attach the sentiment and a couple of the leaves and foam squares to attach one leaf and the flower. I stamped the sentiment using the distress ink in peacock feathers along with the Gina K. ink in Lucky Clover giving me a green combination and finishing with a few sequins.

Using my Perfect Crafting Pouch prevented any bleeding from the Distress Ink stamping.
